根據媒體所做的2016年總統大選民調，顯示國民黨不論派出身兼黨主席的新北市長朱立倫、立法院長王金平，或是已登記參加黨內初選的立法院副院長洪秀柱、前衛生署長楊志良，支持度皆大幅落後民進黨主席暨總統參選人蔡英文。對此，洪秀柱表示，她不以民調喜、也不以民調悲，重視民心要比民調重要，她有信心自己能夠逆轉勝。
蘋果日報19日發布2016年總統大選民調，顯示國民黨目前所有可能的總統參選人的支持度都大幅落後民進黨主席暨總統參選人蔡英文，其中又以王金平與蔡英文的差距最小。
對此，已登記參加黨內初選的立法院副院長洪秀柱受訪時表示，「可惜王金平沒有領表」。對於自己的民調支持度與蔡英文差距甚大，洪秀柱並不悲觀，強調民調僅供參考，她會砥礪自己更加努力。洪秀柱說：『(原音)其實我是不以民調喜、不以民調悲，我們心中有的是人心，而不是民調，重視民心比民調要來的重要的多。』
洪秀柱並舉美國前總統柯林頓曾克服逆境為例，期盼自己成為龜兔賽跑中的烏龜，在選戰最後逆轉勝。她說：『(原音)柯林頓在選舉的時候，他起步的時候民調只有2%，到最後是柯林頓贏，不要小看烏龜，我相當有信心，否則每一次國外例子都很多，什麼叫逆轉勝？我今天希望也能扮演逆轉勝的角色。』
